Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Place the Home Base charging station against a wall in an open, uncluttered area, ensuring at least 1.5 feet (0.5 meters) of clear space on either side and 4 feet (1.2 meters) in front. Plug the Home Base power cord into a wall outlet.

4. Returning to Home Base

Regular maintenance is crucial for your Roomba's optimal performance. Follow these steps to keep your robot in top condition.

The dust bin should be emptied after each cleaning cycle, especially if you have pets or high traffic areas. The Roomba 980 has a 0.6-liter capacity dust bin. To empty, press the bin release tab and pull the bin straight out. Open the bin door and shake out debris into a trash can.

2. Cleaning the Brushes and Filter

The Dual Multi-Surface Rubber Brushes should be cleaned weekly, or more often if you have a lot of pet hair. Pinch the yellow tabs to lift the brush frame and remove the brushes. Remove any hair or debris wrapped around the brushes or their caps. The High Efficiency Filter (HEPA type) should also be cleaned weekly by tapping it against a trash can to dislodge debris. Filters are not washable and should be replaced every 2-3 months, or as needed.
