3. Operating the Derailleur

The microSHIFT XLE Rear Derailleur works in conjunction with your shifter to move the chain across the rear cassette cogs, allowing you to select different gear ratios.

  • Shifting Up: Use your shifter to move the chain to a smaller cog (higher gear).
  • Shifting Down: Use your shifter to move the chain to a larger cog (lower gear).
  • Always pedal forward while shifting to ensure smooth and efficient gear changes. Avoid shifting under heavy load.
  • The strong spring tension of the XLE derailleur contributes to enhanced chain stability, reducing chain slap and improving retention on rough terrain.
