Accepting Chip and PIN Payments

  1. Initiate a transaction in the Square Point of Sale app.
  2. Insert the customer's chip card into the slot on the front of the Square Reader.
  3. Instruct the customer to enter their PIN on your device (if required) and follow any on-screen prompts.
  4. Wait for the transaction to complete and remove the card.

Accepting Contactless Payments (NFC, Apple Pay, Google Pay)

  1. Initiate a transaction in the Square Point of Sale app.
  2. Instruct the customer to hold their contactless card or NFC-enabled device (e.g., smartphone with Apple Pay or Google Pay) near the contactless symbol on the Square Reader.
  3. Wait for the transaction to complete. A confirmation will appear on your device.
